Of Lebanese heritage

Saturday 13 April at 10.30am

Location: Grange Library and via Zoom

The next meeting for the ALHS Queensland group is at 10.30am Saturday 13 April 2024 at the Grange Library and via Zoom. It is a special meeting to share our experiences/reflections about how being of Lebanese descent has influenced our lives.

These reflections/stories may be in whatever form you choose: prose or poetry. It can be one sentence, a paragraph, a longer piece or even a sound recording. You might write about a person, an event, an object, a special memory, a smell, a taste, a tree, or personal experiences.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, you are invited to submit your piece via email to Anne Monsour at [email protected]  or [email protected]

The focus question:
How has being of Lebanese descent influenced your life?
Some points/questions to consider
  • What is your Lebanese heritage?
  • How far back is your connection to Lebanon?
  • Were you, your parents, grandparents, or great grandparents born in Syria/Lebanon?
  • When did you first realize you were of Lebanese background?
  • What was Lebanese about your childhood and upbringing?
  • When do/did you feel Lebanese?
  • Is there something you do/like/think/feel that is particularly Lebanese?
  • Have you ever felt you are not Lebanese enough?
  • Have you ever felt you are not Australian enough?
  • What about language – Arabic, English? What does it feel like not understanding what is being said?

We look forward to your responses and hope many of you will participate.

The event is finished.
