St Michael’s Melkite Cathedral: History, Faith and Fidelity

As the first non-Anglo-Celtic Church in Australia, this presentation will detail the 130 year history of St Michael’s Melkite Catholic Cathedral, starting with our ecclesiastical presence from its early beginnings in the late 19th century up to the present day. As a rich sanctuary of the Byzantine liturgical tradition that welcomed thousands of immigrants from Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and the Levant, my own family’s migratory experience, like many others, was built on the foundation of this Cathedral. Presented by Jack Bettar.
