Description
Although people from modern Lebanon have lived in Australia since the early 1880s, their story is often overlooked in the recording of Australian history.
To redress this absence, in 2000, a group of volunteers, most of whom were of Lebanese heritage, founded the Australian Lebanese Historical Society (ALHS).
For 25 years, the ALHS has actively pursued its goals through seminars, its quarterly newsletter and website, exhibitions, publishing books, conducting oral history interviews and assisting both academic and amateur researchers.
Revealing that history has many perspectives, this collection, which marks the 25th anniversary of the ALHS, provides new insights into the lives of Lebanese Australians and their ongoing connection to their Lebanese heritage.
